We approached Duke Christie to see whether he would be interested in creating a new kitchen in our Grade A Listed Home. The proposal would have been a daunting one for most people but Duke tackled it with gusto and enthusiasm. Within a few days Duke produced detailed designs for 5 large pieces of kitchen furniture which would not have been out of place in an early 19th Century Library. Virtually no modification to the design was necessary and we gave Duke the “go ahead”. Over the ensuing weeks we regularly visited Ruth and Duke at their Hillockhead workshop and we very much enjoyed being involved in the creation process. Ultimately the pieces were all successfully installed in the kitchen on time and on budget. We cannot speak too highly of Duke and Ruth’s commitment and professionalism throughout the commission and we now have perhaps the most elegant kitchen in Scotland! Lord & Lady Doune Duke Christie has completed some excellent work for us, both in restoration and designing new pieces. More recently he completed our new members table which reflects admirably the arts and crafts heritage of Skibo Castle. The level of craftsmanship is truly amazing and we were so pleased to have found him. It is most encouraging and comforting to know that we have such expertise on our doorstep. The interior of the box and tray are lined with velvet and on the lid my nameplate. Duke and Ruth have created for me a truly special keepsake which not only do I treasure, but hopefully will be in the family bringing happiness for years to come.
